Methodology

What qualifies. A job cut announced or reported since Jan 1, 2025 by a named organisation, where AI or AI-driven automation is given as a reason. We exclude forecasts ("AI could replace X jobs"), hiring freezes, voluntary buyout pools, aggregate reports such as monthly job-cut surveys, and cuts where AI appears only as background to a cost-cutting story.

How the AI link is labelled. "Company cited AI" means the company or its executives attributed the cut to AI in their own words: a memo, filing, earnings call or statement. "Reported" means credible reporting tied the cut to AI but the company did not, or said AI was not the reason. When the evidence sits between the two, we use "Reported"; when it is unclear whether AI is linked at all, the event is left out.

Numbers. Headcount is the company's own figure where reports agree. When sources conflict, give a range, or only a percentage, headcount is left blank rather than estimated, and blanks are not counted in totals. Each row is one announcement or round; a company can appear more than once.

Sources and quotes. Events were found by searching news coverage from January 2025 onwards and reviewed one by one. Each row links its most authoritative source: company newsroom or filing first, then wire services and national outlets. A quote is shown only where we matched it word for word on that source page.
